HEEYO!!
So I said yesterday that
I would blog about this fantastical week I had, so here I am :) Currently, I'm
sitting on a couch downstairs, making use of the limited WIFI to satisfy my
need for the Internet before I have to head back to Singapore later in the
afternoon. More on that later :)
MONDAY- The first Goodbye
Like many weeks, my week
started with a Monday. However, that Monday, I "celebrated" my CCA's
farewell. I'm from ELDDS (drama), and for four years I pretty much hung out
with the same bunch of weirdos during CCA, making boxes, to like practicing
monologues and singing weird songs in the bus. :) To these weirdos, thank you
for making my four years really really great.

I will never
"forget you", everyone will want to be "losers like us". ;)
Even though we may have had unspoken feuds and indirect quarrels at times, at
the end of the day, we're all good and all the feuds and all only add to the
memories we have together. As we go our separate ways, hopefully we won't forget
drama, and all our little inside jokes. (I refer explicitly to "PHOEBE1!
WHERE'S PHOEBE?!" love you pheebs <3 )
I got to pass down my
rank as the welfare head (aka. position which does nothing )
to Natasha, which I found quite amusing since we had worked together for SOP
and were both media studies students.
Natasha, I am trusting
you with the happiness of LD.

Thanks to all the juniors for the wonderful gifts <3
That night, Carina came
over to my place to stay over, (my other friend, Lydia, was also supposed to
stay over but she couldn't :( ) we ended up trying our best to wax her
unimaginably hairy legs ;) This ended up in screams of pain and agony,
but beautifully waxed legs.
(I actually have the video of her screaming her lungs out.)
The things girls do for
Prom.
Tuesday - The Second Goodbye
19th of November, Prom
day. Or more precisely, "Cambridge Dinner" day.
Before.
After.
The morning started
early, with a trip down to Celine's ( a friend of Lydia's) to do our hair and
makeup. To be honest, I was pretty scared about the whole hairdo thing, since I
can be pretty awkward, and having makeup on just made me feel more awkward.
Also, my dress was cheap, and from what I'd heard, I felt like I would have
been underdressed for prom.

getting the curls on early in the morning.
Afterwards, we went to
another guy's salon ( Uncle dave. Lydia's friend ) , where the others got their
hair done, since I had done mine in the morning, curls and all. Unknowingly, I
had followed the prom theme ("Retro", how unexpected -.- ) by wearing
a retro dress and getting my curls on.

After makeup session
At prom, like BOOM. I
realized how beautiful everyone actually is. It's sad how uniforms and
schoolwork make us so tired that we can't focus on being really pretty all the
time. I saw my classmates in another light, with curls and all their make-up done, they looked stunning. (STEEP AND NARROW VALLEYS GUYS) I was pretty gobsmacked. They were
all so pretty I might have gone slightly curved for them.

Cassandra.
This girl has withstood two years of weirdness from me hahah.
Gonna miss you man. |
In a sense, this
was my last goodbye to people i had known for 10 years and a school which i had
been in for 10 years. Kinda bittersweet to be honest. I did tell a friend that
i wouldn't miss PL at all, considering that I had gotten more than enough of
blue pinafores with white belts, but I guess I kinda do miss it. I miss all the
friends and memories that were made during the 10 years. thinking about it
kinda makes me wish I spent more time capturing the memories.
I'll see you bunch when
we get our results, and legit, i'm really happy to be part of the batch of 13'
;) Here's to all the memories we made and the many more we'll make with others.
Love you guys. <3
(PS. to all the girls I
kissed that night, I love you all too. ;) )
Wednesday - Start of RED
camp (for me, at least)
Ngee Ann Poly organised
their annual camp, RED camp, to help graduating students find out more about NP
and the campus, as well as the culture. The camp was 3 days, but i only
attended 2, since i had prom on the first day and was trying to get myself dolled
up for it.
Lets just establish
first that my homies and I were in Ninja, the blue tribe. (and like the best
frackin tribe ever)
Sam actually posed for this.
I was kinda caught by
surprise when the first thing I saw was a bunch of SLs (student leaders) who
were standing along the path up to the convention centre waiting to yell in our
faces, "GOOD MORNING NINJA". Nonetheless, it was a really pleasant
surprise.
"GOOOOD MORNING NINJA"
Afterwards, we went into
the hall which the MS people would usually associate with exams and tests, even
though this was supposed to be fun. Honestly, i was pretty scared when i first
went in because BOYS. dude like, i get that boys are "harmless" and
"nice", but when you've had bad experiences with guys, coupled with
being in a girls' school for 10 years, the opposite sex is scary.
It's like i'm scared of
being awkward with guys, so i never know how to carry myself in front of them.
This has lead to misunderstandings and dudes thinking i've got to be the
weirdest person ever, despite my efforts to google "how to act in front of
a dude" or "how to accept compliments". (The two articles are
saved in my hard drive)
ANYWAYS.
I first met up with my
mates, who were all media studies students as well, apart from Sarah Ann. I had
no idea what they were all cheering or what they were even doing, shaking hands
with dudes. Slightly awkward. But by lunch, we were all good. I was content
with my little group of GIRLS. This was not for long though, an SL (Sam)
decided to come over and sit with us.
![]() |
Sam. Member of Opposite Gender. honestly one of the nicest dudes ever.
This dude just came and
sat with us. He was surprisingly nice and didn't walk away from our group even
though we were super loud and all that. He even said we WEREN'T weird. Sam and
the rest of the SLs brought us around the school, from the School of
engineering to the school of info comm technology.
At the school of
Engineering, we were tasked to create blades that would generate the most
"wind" energy from pieces of styrofoam and blades. Since we were only
allowed to sit in groups of five and our little circle had 6 people, I popped
over to the other group, which was a group of lovely ladies who came from
various schools (Queenstown, Ngee Ann).

Wonderfully talented girls i was working with, see y'all guys soon!
The seniors there were
so nice too! Forgive me, but i can't remember what their names were, only that
they were just completely amazing, and we spent some time just exchanging
really bad pick up lines and talking about how the other Senior had an uncanny
resemblance to that of the bear from Brother Bear.
Then came the CCA fair.
Wheelchair basketball, magic tricks and lion dances.
Wheelchair basketball
was surprisingly fun, although I don't think we actually got the hang of it,
since we ended up pushing each other on the wheelchairs and dribbling the
balls. That was the most fun i'd ever had playing basketball, however we may or
may not have looked like a bunch of loony, accident prone kids. hahahah
Then came Lion dancing.
Watching a lion dance and actually doing it are two different things. Venessa
and I found that out the hard way, when they handed us the excruciatingly heavy
lion head and we couldn't feel our arms afterwards. Needless to say, I doubt
i'll be joining the Lion dance troupe next year >.<
The last (and possibly
my favourite) CCA we tried out was the Entertainment club. This was my
favourite purely because the seniors there showed us some really cool tricks
with cards and all that. Venessa got to try her hand at a card trick, and the
rest of us finally got some actual tricks up our sleeves. :D
For dinner, we got KFC.
The whole drumstick and everything! Best dinner i'd had at a camp in all my
life up to that date. Sorry this bit is kinda wordy, we were so busy having fun
we didn't really get the chance to take pictures!
We ended the day with a
mass dance, which was revealed to be a couple dance. Meaning, a boy and a girl.
Gwen (whom I had run into earlier in the day) was my "girl" and I was
pretty okay with being her "dude". The best thing was that Sheryl had
to partner Sam since it was a couple dance. Needless to say, we teased Sheryl
and her "dance partner", I personally quipped in a few wolf whistles
here and there ;), but she looked like she was having a good time. (All pun
intended)

GWEN! Hadn't seen her in a few years.
Thursday - End of RED camp ( The last Goodbye)
Woke up on the right
side of the bed, at 6am, and headed down to NP for the last day of camp. It
didn't really hit me that it was the last day, since i only had two days of
camp. Slapped on my Ninja shirt, ready for another day. The previous day had actually
left me pretty tired out, but i was still really excited, since we were going
to FMS ( School of Film and Media Studies)
The rest started with
their photo shoot session without Cheryl and I since we were stuck on the bus
:/.
After the morning skit
and the usual, we headed down to FMS. This was literally what i had been
waiting for the entire camp. One school, one course. The five of us knew that
we wanted to go to FMS. There was no other school for us. It was quite
hilarious though when the SL asked "who wants to go to FMS" and we
screamed our lungs out (possibly giving the others on the bus a fright).

Seniors,
FMS Agents, some of which were our seniors whom we hadn’t seen in a long ass
time, greeted us.We even saw Melanie, a senior i knew from the school musical :D
Hopefully we did her proud by snatching up all the capital land vouchers that
were up for grabs. Radiant, another senior (From LD), brought us into the
filming room where the FSV (film sound video) kids would have their lessons.
Venessa and Lihui were basically the first to run up to play with the camera.
![]() |
Lihui and Venessa fiddling with the camera
What's even better was
that the "director" giving Lihui instructions was actually her band
senior! Really cool to have met people that we didn't expect to meet ^^
Off to the 3D animation
room we went!
Ngee Ann has one of the
largest green screens in Singapore, and the seniors showed their works to the
group of us. Watching the breakdown of animations gave me a newfound respect to
the animators who work behind the scenes to give us all our cartoons. It was
amazing to see how much work was put in for a short 3 minute video, and you
could definitely see the effort that was put in.
Thennnn we headed over
to HMS, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, where the true sexuality of
an all girls' school girl is questioned. At HMS, we learnt all about psychology
and how our emotions and expressions allow us to "read" people. We played
Taboo, where we had to act out a few words. Basically, everyone in the room
probably thought I was the densest person there.
Emcee : okay. let's play
taboo. Girls, you may begin acting.
Sheryl and Venessa :
(hugging each other) WHAT ARE WE IN?!
Audrey : UH UH. GIRLS'
SCHOOL
(Sheryl and Venessa have
confusion written all over their faces at this point)
Sheryl and Venessa: NO
NO. WE ARE IN A--?!
Audrey: OH. SHIT.
RELATIONSHIP. (which was the word given)
Emcee : (chuckles
nervously) uh.. that's a ... FUN group...
Looking back, Future
Audrey just wants to tell Past Audrey that she's a big dumb shit. Also, the
emcee probably meant "mentally unsound" . In other news, we also got
reunited with Sam, who played with us and challenged Sheryl and I to a game of
"guess the emotion" with Elaine, another SL. ( For the record, Sheryl
and I won)

The "fun" group
The dorks. :)
So after we kicked ass,
we headed back down to the Convention centre. This is where it got really sad,
as it dawned upon us that the end was in sight. As the SLs of each tribe went
up on stage and performed, you could see that many of them were crying. At
first, we didn't actually know why. Sam explained that the whole journey for
them as SLs was a really emotional one, in which they all came in strangers and
left as family. (This is where you go "aww".) The SLs not only did
their dances once, but twice, the second time with the tribes singing along and
cheering for them. There are no words to describe how amazing it looked (and
felt) to be in that crowd.
For the finale, Michelle
Chong came down to promote her new movie "Three Peas In A Pod", which
everyone should go check out.
Michelle Chong was so nice, she even commented on Venessa's photo on Instagram!
JACK AND RAI CAME. GUYS.
THEY SANG THE FALALALA SONG. I LOVE THAT SONG. They also sang "Ho,
Hey", which was really kickass.
Jack and Rai kicking ass.
They also got down an
Acapella group that really just blew my mind. I've had a thing for Acapella
groups since the Warblers on Glee, but seeing these guys live was just amazing.
Their rendition of "I'm Yours" by Jason Maraz really just blew the
roof off. I can still hear them in my head.
Guys, the Warblers have loads to learn from y'all
Afterwards came the mass
dance. This was pretty significant to me, since Sam, the wonderful person he
is, found me a dance partner from the other tribe, the Vikings, and I'd never actually danced with a guy before. Let's just call
this guy "Dude". Now, Dude was a pretty okay guy, not too shabby
looking (Sam's got relatively good taste), and he could follow basic dance instructions. However, he was kinda awkward,
so i kinda just awkward-ded too. Dude may or may not have left me with his
friend without telling me. Which just made it kinda more awkward haha. Sam, if
you're reading this, i really appreciated the gesture nonetheless :)
SLs dancing. They were all really sweet and all that. <3
Time was ticking,
time-time was ticking (HEY) Time is ticking, Time-time is ticking (WHUTTT)
Soon, came the time to
leave. The SLs, including Sam, were all teary eyed, and some had eve lost their
voices. Many of us honestly did not want to leave. And so, we cheered. The
Ninjas cheered until many of us lost our voices, and we basically went home
screaming our lungs out. Up till this day, i still have "DONT DROP THAT
DUN DUN DUN" literally etched in my mind.
(side note: i was out
grocery shopping the other day and i found myself cheering the Ninja cheers. So basically walking down the cereal isle chanting "The roof, the roof, the
roof is on fire,
we
don't need nobody let the ninja spirit burn." like some deranged feminist.)

Even found myself a little Ninja <3
Red camp may have ended,
but my journey in NP has just begun :)
Watch out for the Ninjas
Sheryl and Audrey next year NP ;)

The beautiful Darling, Sheryl, whom I'll be seeing for the next 3 years.
This basically summed up
my week. Probably the best week i'll ever have. like Ever. Honestly, all the
memories from this camp, and the week will be forever in my mind. I can't wait
to make new ones on the campus next year. To the Red camp 11 campers, Sheryl and I will be waiting ;)
